I read Fault Lines by Voddie Bauchum when it first came out. It's a really good book. It did make me angry at times but not at the author but at fellow black people ( I'm black btw) who are determined to remain stuck in victimhood instead of doing something to better themselves.
You're not alone! Consider trying a book or a genre that was your least favorite as a child, or maybe read something that you found hard to understand.
I book I missed recommending that would meet several challenges is Letters to My Palestinian Neighbour by Yossi Klein Halevi. I read this book with my book club. This book is very thought provoking. On the issues between Israel and Palestine. It is written from an Israeli POV with responses from the Palestinian POV. This book would meet the challenges about letters, neighbours and hot topic.
In case anyone wonders: for this particular challenge (read about a woman you admire) a historical fiction novel *will* still count, as long as the person is real.
So for some reason I can’t read your whole comment, but I’m wondering, will Jubilee by Margaret Walker work for this challenge? It’s based on the true story of her great-grandmother, but names are changed.
For the category of two books by the same author, my two books are authored by Brian Kilmeade. He writes about historical events. I am almost finished with The President and the Freedom Fighter, a book about Lincoln and Frederick Douglass.

So what do I do if I don’t remember/know of any books I didn’t like/hated as a child?? I only remember my 8th grade science book that I hated!!🤭😂

Excellent recommendation!
Note that The Watchmaker's Daughter under "A book about a woman you admire" is by Larry Loftis. The other is a novel.
Thank you Crystal! We made that correction.

Would The King’s Daughter by Suzanne Martel count as a book about neighbors?
We're not familiar with that title, but if it features neighbors or a neighborhood prominently, you can count it!
